Marathon Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is proud of its staff and affiliations and below are some of the recent accomplishments:
Congratulations to staff participants (Rachel, Emily, Jessica, Kathryn, Jennifer) in this year’s Women’s Danskin Triathalon, held on Sunday, July 26 in Webster, MA, to raise funds for breast cancer research. Marathon Physical Therapy was once again a sponsor at this annual event providing post-race stretching on race day to 3,300 entrants!
Congratulations to Marathon’s Alex McKinney on completing both the Patriot and Providence ½ Ironman, both under 5 hours!!! Congratulations also to Jessica, Bill, Kathryn, Alex, Adam, TJ, and other friends and family of Marathon in completing the Timberman Triathlon and to Josh Gelfand at the Stoaked Offroad Triathlon –Xterra Course. Finally to Jenn Thorpe in completing the MS bike ride and Heidi Johnson at the Harpoon Point to Point Ride to support the Vermont FoodBank.
Marathon is also please to report that Katie Visco, sporting her Marathon singlet, continues to do well crossing into Missouri in her trek to be the youngest female soloist to Run Across America Boston to San Diego to raise awareness and promote Girls on the Run, a charity that empowers young girls through running. Marathon Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine will be offering a new Core Conditioning Class, instructed by Melanie Blednarek BS, LPT, at its Norton location beginning September 17, 2009 at 12 noon for 6 weekly Thursday sessions. Whether you are an out of practice runner, student athlete, seasoned golfer or post rehab patient this class is for you. This class provides a safe, educational environment and comprises exercises and stretches designed to increase flexibility, improve overall function and strengthen the core musculature. Drawing from yoga, Pilates and exercise science disciplines the workout may include flexibility, stabilization and strength exercises using rollers, bands, yoga straps and body weight to achieve desired results. Components of this class are designed for participants to incorporate into their individual pre-workout and post-workout routines.
Marathon is pleased to host the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) Level I Differential Diagnosis course over 2 weekends in September and October. This course will be well-attended by Marathon physical therapists and is the first step in a curriculum culminating in manual therapy certification.
